Plane Sight — Privacy Policy

Effective August 9, 2026

Plane Sight is built by Shaam Software (Crescent Mission LLC). The app tells you which aircraft are flying above you. It is designed to know as little about you as possible.

What the app collects

Location. Plane Sight uses your device's location for exactly one thing: working out which aircraft are overhead and where in the sky to look for them. Your precise location is processed on your device and is never stored on our servers — we don't have any servers. When the app requests nearby aircraft from the flight-data service (adsb.lol), it sends a position rounded to roughly one kilometre, never your exact coordinates.

Nothing else. No account, no name, no email, no advertising identifiers, no analytics, no tracking. Your spotting logbook is stored only on your device and leaves it only if you export or delete the app's data yourself.

Third-party services

Live aircraft positions come from adsb.lol, a community-run ADS-B network (data under the Open Database License). Requests to it include the rounded position described above and standard network metadata (such as your IP address), which is inherent to any internet request. No other third-party service receives anything from the app.

Aircraft data

Route, airline, and aircraft-type reference data is bundled inside the app from the public-domain standing-data project, so those lookups happen entirely offline.

Children

Plane Sight does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. There are no accounts and no data collection to consent to.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
